#11 Filming an on-the-go Interview

  • This assignment is meant for groups of 3-4 students
  • Your assignment is to interview a classmate while they are completing a task
  • Your group will have 3.5 minutes to film an on -the-go interview of one or more group members completing a task.
  • Your grade will comprise of the thoroughness of the interview and professionalism of the presentation/production.
  • Your videos may not exceed 3:30 mins in length.

Interviews should include:

  • A well detailed storyboard: details for each shot must include the following (where applicable):  shot number, who, what, when, where, how, audio track, shot type i.e. wide shot, drawing of talent, names of talent, location, lighting, time of day.
  • A storyboard with no fewer than 15 shots
  • One or more subjects performing a task (one task only)
  • Title slide with focus statement i.e. “Run and Gun Interview: Uncle Ted Playing an Instrument”
  • Introduction: Field reporter states: who, what when where and why
  • Full name of the interviewee: spoken and spelled
  • Both reporter and interviewee must appear on film together and separately
  • A graphic with each interviewee’s name as they appear on camera
  • Interesting location
  • Thoughtful/relevant interview questions and responses
  • A credit slide at the end

creating art i.e. ceramics, painting, drawing

playing an instrument

acting out a scene

playing a sport

performing a magic trick

*** ALL interview tasks and questions must be approved by me before you start filming. 

Rubric:

  • Framing: 5 pts.
  • Shot Quality: 5 pts.
  • Clear Audio: 5 pts.
  • No visual distractions: 5 pts.
  • Continuity 5 pts

Total: 25 pts.
